Forged in Failure: How I’m Learning to Move Forward
"How should I proceed?"
I’ve asked myself this more times than I can count.
Usually after something breaks
A plan.
A relationship.
A version of myself I thought was unshakable.
And the advice always circles back:
👉 “Learn from your mistakes.”
👉 “What is broken can be reforged.”
But let’s be honest neither of those is easy in the moment.
Learning from mistakes means I have to face them.
Own them.
Resist the urge to cover them up or blame someone else.
And reforging? That’s not just putting pieces back together.
It’s melting them down, reshaping what’s left, and daring to believe the new version might be stronger.
Lately, I’ve realized:
The question “How should I proceed?” isn’t asking for the perfect next step.
It’s asking for courage.
Courage to reflect not ruminate.
Courage to rebuild not retreat.
Courage to grow even if it means outgrowing who I used to be.
So I’m starting here:
-
Owning what broke.
-
Sitting with the lessons (even the painful ones).
-
And choosing to move even slowly toward what’s next.
Because I don’t want to stay stuck in the ruins.
I want to be part of the reforging.
