The Price of Loyalty
We love to say loyalty is earned.
That it comes from shared experiences, from trust built over time. That it’s something sacred shaped by character, not currency.
But in some spaces?
That’s not how it works.
In business. In politics. In some friendships and even families…
Loyalty is often bought.
With power.
With attention.
With opportunity, fear, or convenience.
And when the “payment” stops so does the loyalty.
It’s uncomfortable to admit, but necessary. Because not all loyalty is rooted in respect.
Sometimes it’s survival.
Sometimes it’s strategy.
Sometimes it’s simply easier than walking away.
So if you find yourself asking, “Are they truly loyal to me?”
Follow the trail.
Is it built on truth or on transaction?
Loyalty that’s earned is rare.
But when you find it, protect it.
Because everything else?
It can be bought and sold again just as fast.
