When Trust Feels Too Expensive

“Trust is a luxury no one can afford.”

It sounds harsh but in certain seasons, it rings true.

We live in a world where people wear masks, where words can be hollow, and where intentions aren’t always what they seem. Trust, once broken, doesn’t just bruise—it fractures. And rebuilding it? That takes time, patience, and a kind of vulnerability that feels risky.

So we become cautious. Guarded.
Not because we hate people but because we’ve learned the cost of giving away blind trust.

But here’s the paradox: while trust may feel like a luxury, not trusting at all is an even heavier burden. It isolates. It hardens. It leaves no room for connection, growth, or healing.

Maybe the truth is this: trust isn’t something you give away freely it’s something you invest in wisely. Not everyone earns it, and that’s okay. But when someone does? That’s no longer a luxury. That’s a lifeline.

And maybe the rarest luxuries… are the ones worth protecting most.
