Layers
At first glance, everything looks fine.
A smile.
A well-written post.
A highlight reel that seems perfectly timed and perfectly lit.
But we both know
things aren’t always what they seem.
What looks like confidence might be overcompensating.
What looks like success might be burnout in disguise.
What looks like “they have it all together” might actually be someone holding it together with quiet desperation.
We don’t always show what’s underneath.
Sometimes we don’t know how.
Sometimes we don’t want to.
So we present what’s easy to digest.
What fits in a caption.
What keeps the questions away.
But behind every post, every smile, every “I’m good”...
there’s always more.
And I think that’s okay.
As long as we remember to look beyond the obvious.
To offer kindness without needing a reason.
To stay curious and never assume we know the full story.
Because people are layered.
Messy. Contradictory. Beautiful in ways that don’t fit into a feed.
So take a second look.
Ask the better question.
Leave space for complexity.
After all
things aren’t always what they seem.
And sometimes, what’s hidden is where the real story lives.
